21 Days of Prayer & Fasting has worked for VI– Premier Fahie

Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie(R1) has said the recent 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting in the Virgin Islands has paid off.

The initiative came to an end on July 31, 2021, but government held an online culmination service at the New Life Baptist Church on Sunday, August 1, 2021, to mark the official end.

The prayer and fasting initiative was in response to the major uptick in COVID-19 cases and deaths in the territory in the last few weeks.

At one point, the territory recorded 1,604 cases, which has been reduced to 555, and 31 COVID-19 deaths.

“I must thank everyone who joined in the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, and it has been working. We have seen how the Lord has worked with us immensely to get our positive cases down. We also have to continue to pray to cancel the spirit of death, the death angels from our territory, which we cancel now in Jesus name, and we declare life in the BVI. So let us continue to remain steadfast in purpose and diligent in actions,” the Premier said during the House of Assembly on Thursday, July 29, 2021.

COVID-19 challenges not unique to us

“Let’s not make people think that it is only in the BVI that we have these challenges, even financially as a result of COVID-19,” the Finance Minister remarked.

“Just turn on the television, call any cousin, family or friend, God child or anyone you have in the other Caribbean islands, and you will find out that when they speak its sounds like they are right here in the BVI and when the BVI speaks it sounds like you are where they are. The challenges are the same, but it is going to take for us to pray and fast,” he added.
