Speaking exclusively to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), Hodge said, “It’s a very great accomplishment for me and my team. Seeing that it was only my 4th division 1 game and I was able to accomplish those milestones. I couldn’t have done it without my teammates and my coaches pushing me to be at my best.”

He said accomplishment like those not only showcase personal talent but puts the territory into focus regarding the amount of Basketball talent on the island.

“It’s good for the territory because it’s putting us out there that we have talent even on the smaller islands,” Hodge said.

Meanwhile, the mother of D’Moi, Ms Cleopatria King-Defreitas told VINO she couldn’t be prouder of her son’s accomplishments and performance in the sport.

“I'm a super proud momma bear! Words can't express how I really feel but honestly, I'm not surprised with his game on Sunday. D'Moi has set a few records while in Junior college so with his ability to be one of the best basketball players I'm expecting him to break a few more,” she said.

Family & Community 100% behind D'Moi - Mom

Ms King-Defreital said the family is always rooting for him and supporting him 100% in his endeavours, “D'moi is a positive role model for his cousins and nephew with a few of them wanting to follow in his footsteps,” she said.

“As I've always felt his talent is a gift that he was blessed with, but his character is what makes me a proud mother. He has so much manners, respect and positive behaviour that will leave you in awe,” she said.

Ms King-Defreitas remarked that the Cane Garden Bay Community remains a family to D'Moi and is backing his as he peruse his basketball dreams.

“Everyone is aunt, uncle or cousin so they have been some of his biggest supporters. The wider community, the BVI roots for him... It can clearly be seen from my Facebook page,” she said.
