Anegada To Receive 400M Recreational Grounds Upgrade

Ninth District Representative and Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration Hon. Vincent Wheatley has revealed plans to upgrade the Anegada’s recreational grounds.
He told BVI Platinum News on Monday October 4 that this was the main reason for a community meeting held on Sunday.

“The meeting had a very fair turn out on Sunday afternoon. The main thing was the recreational grounds we are going to improve it and what their [residents] vision was for the recreation grounds,” he said.

He continued: “So the priority areas, one is to get the lights on the basketball court as soon as possible, two, to finish the fencing, three to cover the bleachers out there on the basketball court because what we want to do is carry some basketball games to Anegada because there is a district league going on now, we want to carry a few games to Anegada at some point in time.”

The District Representative further informed that residents requested an internationally sized 400-meter field that, when established, “would boost sports tourism.”

He said the lights on the court is expected to commence as soon as possible; the fence will be completed in the next two weeks ‘or so,” and the bleachers he said he could not give a timeline.

However, the entire scope of works will be completed in the next two months.
