COVID surge affects operations of 5 more gov’t departments

Five additional government departments have adjusted their operating hours, with some only offering remote services because of the concerning uptick in COVID-19 cases.
These departments are the Civil Registry & Passport Office, the Virgin Islands Shipping Registry, Town & Country Planning, the Inland Revenue Office on Virgin Gorda, and the Premier’s Office.

Management of the Passport Office said its department will open for a limited time daily by appointment only. The office will operate between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm until July 23.

The Shipping Registry will be open for business as usual from 8:30 am to 3 pm but beyond that time, services will be delivered by appointment only.

The Town & Country Planning Department said it will provide services remotely from July 14 to July 23. Physical operations will resume on July 26.

Meanwhile, the Inland Revenue Office on Virgin Gorda will also provide services remotely from Tuesday, July 13 to Friday, July 23, “to ensure the health and safety” of officers and clients. They also plan to resume physical operations on July 26.

As for the Premier’s Office, it will provide services remotely from July 13 to July 14 and will resume physical operations by tomorrow, July 15.

All appointments for the respective offices can be made by contacting the government’s Customer Service Care Centre at 284-468-3701 or by using its online appointment portal.
