Education Ministry Not Ready To Deliver Update On Schools
With roughly a month remaining into the summer break, parents and guardians should be well into preparations for the commencement of the new school year in September.
However, one thing is not clear, what shape will this new school year take?
Will it be strictly online, with the recent upsurge in COVID-19 cases? Will it be a blend of online and in-classroom learning? Or will students be back full time in the classroom? Will there be any new protocols such as the mandating of staff and parents to be fully vaccinated?
These are some of the questions that are being asked by parents and teachers via social media. For many parents, it is a balancing act. Should they invest in more school uniforms, school shoes and the like, or they should only be focusing on ensuring that their internet speeds are up to par and their electric bills are paid on time, now that the income of many parents has been impacted by the pandemic.
BVI Platinum News reached out to Minister for Education Hon. Dr. Natalio Wheatley on Tuesday, July 28, on the matter, and this is what he had to say: “We are not ready to make an announcement yet.”
He added: “I cannot give an exact date now, but it will be soon.”
