Speaking during a September 27, 2022, edition of Public Eye produced by the Government Information Service, the Minister said the plan will start with conversations with various sectors in the VI.
“I think the Ministry is currently devising a strategy to see how we could truly go out and have strategic conversations with the private sector and even the voluntary organizations who have a keen interest in education and understanding how they too can play an integral role in the development of education in a territory and so.”
Hon de Castro continued, “We believe ultimately that we have to have a serious conversation and truly reimagine education, so we have to have these types of conversations with the public to help them to understand where we are, where we want to go and what we believe it takes for us to get there.”
She added that there are some facts that are extremely important for the ministry to get out to the public so that stakeholders in education can understand not only their role, but produce the data that guides the sector.
“One of the things we've said is that whatever decision we make, it has to be data-driven and research-based and fits the best practices that are international in relation to where we should go specific to our field and education,” she said.
Hon de Castro added that the Ministry is now taking up opportunities to connect with the public at different levels where people will have an opportunity to get integral insight into the day-to-day work of the ministry as well as how the public can be a part of the sector.
