Help On The Way! Three USVI Doctors To Aid COVID-19 Cattle

Chief Executive Officer of the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) Mrs. Cedorene Malone-Smith, has revealed that three physicians from the neighboring US Virgin Islands will be arriving soon to help in the ongoing COVID-19 battle.
“Next week, Monday or Tuesday, there should be three physicians coming in from the US that are ICU or ER trained that will help our physicians get some rest,” she said while providing a recent update on the COVID-19 situation.

She added, “We continue to look for some respiratory therapists, we are in conversation about the possibility of some ICU trained nurses, some ER trained nurses and some speciality nurses that can come in help our staff to give our staff the ability to rest and continue this battle.”
She revealed that the USVI is also assisting the BVI in their search for supplemental staff.

In the meantime, the BVIHSA’s CEO thanked the staff for their diligence thus far as they have been operating round the clock on reduced numbers due to some being in close contact to an infected person or contracted the virus.

“I want to say thank you to our staff, who over the last 16 months has been preparing and getting ready for where we are now. We were hoping to never get here, so while other people are going through their third and fourth surge, this is our first surge, and I am hoping that this will be our only surge,” she said.
