‘Leave the Obeah man them alone’- Bishop John I. Cline

The outspoken former leader of New Life Baptist Church in Duff’s Bottom, Bishop John I. Cline, has said he is aware of occultic practices being done in the Virgin Islands to influence the outcome of the 2023 General Elections.

The clergyman said some people may think it is foolishness, but it is not and has urged the Virgin Islands people to “cover” their children and their household.

Speaking on the My BVI show live-streamed on Facebook on March 30, 2023, Bishop Cline said he posted something the other day about some diabolical behaviour or practice that goes on around election time and he quickly received a phone call on it.

Outspoken former leader of New Life Baptist Church in Duff’s Bottom Bishop John I. Cline has said he is aware of occultic practices being done in the Virgin Islands to influence the outcome of the 2023 General Elections.

‘I am aware of witchcraft in VI’- John I. Cline

He said he made the post because the truth of the matter is there are people, whether in or out of government, who resort to these types of consultation with who they call spiritual advisors and witchcraft workers.

“I am aware of presence on the ground now. I am aware. I am very much aware…”
Mr Cline said the caller told him about a box that was intercepted coming out of a particular Caribbean country.

Noting that he would not call the name of the country or the person’s name, he said he was told the box was unlabelled box and without a receiver’s address.

“In that box was any and everything occultic, from dolly to little stick man with pins and hair and eyeball and all kind of things, everything occultic, bottle with all kind of thing in it, coming to the BVI at this particular time.”

Mr Cline did not say where exactly the so-called box was intercepted.

‘Pray to God, repent’

He said persons might ask how he knew it was coming to the VI because of election time, “because me aint stupid, right, and you ain’t stupid either” he said.

Mr Cline said he knows witchcraft goes on all the time in the Virgin Islands; however, the progress of the territory will be hindered if it continues.

“We cannot continue to call God on one hand and deal with the devil on the other.”

He urged those practising witchcraft to stop the nonsense.

“Leave the Obeah man them alone, leave the witchcraft workers them alone. Pray to God, repent. Let the voters and God decide who will run the country.”
