This year’s health fair is being held in partnership with NAGICO Insurances and participants can expect free glucose testing, prostate screenings, general health checks, in addition to presentations on chronic disease, Alzheimer’s Disease, nutrition and exercise demonstrations.
The fair is from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm on both days.
Additionally, attendees to the health fair will be given the opportunity to take the free COVID-19 vaccine.
“We encourage men not only on Tortola, but from Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and even Anegada to take this opportunity to access the free health screenings,” said Stacey Roberts, NAGICO’s Sales and Retention Manager.
Roberts added, “Routine testing is very important to your overall health as it helps the process of prevention and provides for timely interventions where there might be issues. As an insurance company we are elated to be part of the efforts being made by the BVI Red Cross in promoting men’s health in the Virgin Islands.”
The first leg of the fair was held on Virgin Gorda on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the Catholic Community Centre.
Volunteers from the BVI Red Cross were supported by staff of NAGICO Insurances, including two registered nurses from the company’s Tortola office.
“I want to thank the staff and volunteers of the BVI Red Cross for their commitment to the most vulnerable in the territory and NAGICO Insurances for their partnership in bringing on this year’s Men’s Prostate Screening and Health Fair,” said Stacy C. Lloyd, BVI Red Cross Director.
Lloyd added, “NAGICO staff in particular for rolling up their sleeves and providing hands-on support in administering the PSA testing and support in the logistics of making this fair a success. I encourage all men to come out to the fair on April 9-10 and make use of the many free services available to improve their health including the opportunity to vaccinate against Covid19.”
