No woman ‘heading the ticket’ just yet for premiership in VI– Skelton-Cline

Pastor and Political Commentator, Claude O. Skelton-Cline, who previously declared that a woman will be the next Premier of the VI Islands, has said so far none has headlined any political party just yet but he is still hopeful.

My Claude O. Skelton-Cline was at the time speaking on the March 14, 2023, edition of his Honestly Speaking show, while adding “I am so glad to see so many women offering themselves for service, this is the women’s decade to change the course and trajectory of this country."

Skelton-Cline detailed that while no woman was heading up the ticket of any political party at the moment, he is still pushing for the woman who is to be premier to come forward.

Woman will be next premier - Skelton-Cline

On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, while presenting his Honestly Speaking talk show on ZBVI 780 AM, Mr Skelton-Cline prophesied that a woman would rise to power in VI.

“There’s a woman that is going to rise to power in the Office of the Premier in the next general election. You might say Claude Skelton-Cline, that's quite a bold statement.

“But you hear me when I tell you. You don't have to believe me, and you don't have to agree with me today. But just as sure, as I am sitting in this seat and just as sure as I am a man of God, and I know that for myself… I am sitting here, and I am saying to you that there is a woman who is going to come to power,” he added.

Some women on the 2023 Elections slate include Hon Sharie B. de Castro (VIP), Hon Alvera Maduro-Caines (VIP), Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles (PVIM), Shania M. Smith-Archer (PVIM), Ingrid A. Moses-Scatliffle (PVIM), Lorna G. Smith (NDP) and Sandy M. Harrigan-Underhill (NDP) along with independents Perline R. Scatliffe-Leonard, Karen C. Vanterpool and Rosita Scatliffe-Thompson.
On Tuesday’s show, Mr Slaude O. Skelton-Cline said that the options right now for premiership include Hons Dr Natalio D. Wheatley (VIP), Julian Fraser (PVIM), Marlon A. Penn (NDP) along with former Legislator Ronnie W. Skelton (PVIM).

“Who do you want to lead? That’s the question you have to answer, who [is] best, not who I like,” he added.

Mr Skelton-Cline said the choice must also be based on who has demonstrated in their private and professional life that they have what it takes to lead the Virgin Islands.
